The Uttarakhand government has launched an awareness campaign – Urjagiri – to stop power theft & saving. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat  has instructed the officers of UPCL Vigilance Cell to effectively stop the power theft so that honest customers do not have to bear the brunt of the power theft.

Satyapriya Mohathero was the 2nd highest Buddhist leader of Bangladesh

Satyapriya Mohathero (89) was the 2nd highest Buddhist leader of Bangladesh and head of Sima Bihar of Ramu in Cox’s Bazar. He was  passed away in Dhaka on 5th October 2019. He was awarded the second-highest civilian award of Bangladesh Ekushey Padak in 2015 for social work. The Ramu monastery had provided shelter to a large number of people during the Liberation War of Bangladesh 1971 in the face of Pakistani atrocities. However, in September 2012, it suffered massive damage as mobs attacked it, angered by an alleged post on Social Media derogatory to Islam.

The International Teachers’ Day  is celebrated every year on 5th October with an aim to acknowledge the significant role of educators across the world. The 2019 theme “Young Teachers: The Future of the Profession”, recognizes the critical importance  of  reaffirming  the  value  of  the  teaching  mission. The day also aims to address some of the issues that are key to attracting the brightest minds and young talents in the profession and retaining them.

Dr Hargovind Laxmishanker Trivedi, a renowned nephrologist passed away in Ahmedabad

Dr Hargovind Laxmishanker Trivedi (87) was the renowned nephrologist, immunologist and stem cell researcher. He passed away in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on 2nd October 2019. He was an expert in handling kidney transplant surgeries & was awarded Padma Shri in 2015 for his contribution to society as a nephrologist.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has recently launched a new governance initiative ‘Mo Sarkar’

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has recently launched a new governance initiative ‘Mo Sarkar’ on the occasion of 150th Gandhi Jayanti. The objective of the ‘Mo Sarkar’ is to provide service with dignity to people who are coming to government offices for different purposes. The phone numbers of people who are coming to government offices will be collected randomly with the purpose to improve the governance system by collecting feedback on behaviour and professionalism of government officers. The employees will be ranked as good or bad on the basis of the feedback and those with good rank will get out-of-turn promotion and action will be taken against employees with bad rank.

The Union government has launched a Prakash portal – ‘Power Rail Koyla Availability through Supply Harmony’

The Union government has launched a Prakash portal – ‘Power Rail Koyla Availability through Supply Harmony’ – for better coordination among the Ministries of Power, Coal and Indian Railways for coal supply to power plants. The portal, which is developed by NTPC, is designed to help in mapping and monitoring entire coal supply chain for power plants, viz – – coal stock at supply end (mines), coal quantities/ rakes planned, coal quantity in transit and coal availability at power generating station

Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch the YSR Vahana Mitra scheme in Eluru on Friday.He will distribute ₹10,000 financial assistance to auto, taxi and maxi driver-cum-owners.Mr. Reddy, during his padayatra in Eluru on May 14, 2018, had promised self-employed auto-rickshaw drivers financial assistance for maintenance upon coming to power.

This initiative was launched to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi and as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
