International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression: 4th June

The International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression is a United Nations observance each on 04th June. It was established on 19th August 1982. Originally focused on victims of the 1982 Lebanon War, its purpose expanded to “acknowledge the pain suffered by children throughout the world who are the victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse. This day affirms the UN’s commitment to protect the rights of children.

Anton Aditya Subowo re-elected as President of Badminton Asia

Indonesia’s Anton Aditya subowo re-elected as president of badminton for another four year period. There were seven people who were selected as the vice-presidents.  India’s Badminton Asia’s president Himanta Biswa Sarma was one among them.  40 countries were voted for the posts of President, Vice President, and Secretary-General. 2019 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships officially crowned the best mixed national badminton teams in Asia.

Financial Literacy Week to be observe during June 3-7

Financial Literacy Week 2019 to be observed from June 3-7 on the theme of “Farmers” and how they benefit by being a part of the formal banking system. Financial Literacy Week is an initiative of RBI to promote awareness of key topics every year through a focused campaign. Growth in agriculture is necessary for the overall economic growth and finance is an essential enabler for the same. RBI is actively involved in formulating policies that enhance the flow of credit to the farming community.

Elephanta Festival kicked off in Mumbai

Elephanta Festival, a two Day festival of art and culture organised by Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) held on Elephanta – Gharapurib (island), Mumbai to promote tourism and culture in Maharashtra. The Festival was inaugurated by tourism minister Jaya Kumar Rawal on Gateway of India.

ONGC overtakes IOC to become a most profitable PSU

India’s top oil and gas producer ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) to become India’s most profitable public sector undertaking. For the fiscal year ended march 31st, 2019, ONGC reported a 34% Jump its net profit to Rs. 26716 crore, This profit is much higher than IOC’s (Indian Oil Corporation) reported profit Rs. 17274 crore.

Ex President Pratibha Patil Awarded Mexico’s highest Civilian award

Former President of India Pratibha Patil was honoured with highest civilian award of Mexico termed “Orden Mexicana del Aguila Azteca” (order of the Aztec Eagle). Ambassador of Mexico to India, Melba Pria presented this award. She becomes the second Indian after the late President S. Radharishnan was granted with this honour.

RBI approved the appointment of Rakesh Makhija as Chairman of Axis Bank

The RBI approved the appointment of Rakesh Makhija as the Chairman of Axis Bank for the period of 3 years, with effect from July 18, 2019 to July 17, 2022. He was the CEO and MD of Tata Honey Well Ltd. He has also held a number of top management positions within the SKF Group.

National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajith Doval gets Cabinet rank with extension of Five more year

The govt. of India reappointed Ajith Doval as NSA for 5 years as well as given upgraded position from minister of state to a Cabinet rank. This is for the first time than an NSA has been a Cabinet rank. The reason for this recognition is that; under Doval, who has earlier Minister of state, the 2016 surgical strikes after the Uri attack and the Balakot strikes after the Pulwama terror attack took place.

Satish Chandra Verma appointed as Advocate General of Chhattisgarh

The government of Chhattisgarh has appointment Satish Chandra Verma as it’s new Advocate General (AG) with immediate effect succeeding Kanak Tiwari. He was previously working as additional Advocate General.

World Bicycle Day observed on 3rd June

World Bicycle Day observed annually on 3rd June to promote the use of bicycle daily in this current era of modern automobiles. The main aim of this day is to recognize bicycle as clean, affordable and environment friendly mode of transport.
