India’s first-ever Floating Basketball Court has opened in the Arabian Sea near Bandra Worli Sealink in Mumbai

India’s first-ever Floating Basketball Court has opened in the Arabian Sea near Bandra Worli Sealink in Mumbai. It was installed by the National Basketball Association (NBA). The NBA India Games 2019 will feature the Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers, who will play two pre-season games on October 4 and 5 at the Dome in NSCI, SVP Stadium.

Ministry of Tourism launched Audio Guide facility App Audio Odigos

Ministry of Tourism launched Audio Guide facility App Audio Odigos for 12 sites of India on the second day of nationwide Paryatan Parv 2019. The project aims to develop synergy amongst all stakeholders. It will also ensure the active participation of local communities/players to promote responsible tourism. Audio Odigos has been launched for the benefit of the tourists.The app contains an inbuilt map of the site for smooth navigation during the tour. It offers Government of India verified content, with visuals & voice over support.

The Bank of Baroda (BoB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Army

The Bank of Baroda (BoB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Army under which the bank would offer customised services along with a host of facilities to account holders. The MoU offers handsome free personal accident insurance cover, free air accident insurance cover of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 50 lakh and an overdraft facility up to 3 times of monthly net salary. The features are also applicable for pensioners of Indian Army up to the age of 70 years.

The Delhi Cabinet on 3rd October, 2019, approved the bill to set up India’s first Sports University

The Delhi Cabinet on 3rd October, 2019, approved the bill to set up India’s first Sports University. It will offer graduation, post-graduation and doctorate degrees in hockey, football and cricket. The announcement was made by the CM Kejriwal. He said the university is to come up in 90 acres of land. The University will act as State University. It will also have a full-fledged Delhi Sports school affiliated to CBSE. The curriculum of the university is still in the idealization process. It will be developed after deliberations with the experts.

The Rajasthan government has recently announced a ban on paan masala

Under the Food Safety Act of 2006, the Rajasthan government has recently announced a ban on paan masala containing magnesium carbonate, nicotine, tobacco, mineral oil and flavoured ‘supari’ in the state to reduce addiction among the youth. With this, Rajasthan has become the third State after Maharashtra and Bihar to announce such a move.

Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has launched an Automated Real Time Performance Smart-board

Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has launched an Automated Real Time Performance Smart-board for effective monitoring and measurement of the key programmes of the government such as Digital India, Aadhaar, Digital Payments etc. The aim of Smart-board is to be a single window access for Centre, State or District specific projects implemented by MeitY. It will provide real-time, dynamic analytical project monitoring for critical and high priority Programme of the ministry.

As per 4th bi – monthly Monetary Policy Statement for 2019-20, RBI has cut its key lending rate to 5.15%

As per 4th bi – monthly Monetary Policy Statement for 2019-20, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cut  its key lending rate — repo rate – by 25 basis points to 5.15% in an effort to boost a sluggish economy as inflation remains in a comfortable zone.  This is the 5th consecutive rate cut by the apex bank this year.

Axis Bank has launched a short-term online fixed deposit product ‘Express FD’ that allows a customer to open a FD account in 3 minutes through the digital mode without opening a savings account with the bank. The new product offers a host of features like attractive interest rates, zero issuance fees and no penalty on pre-mature withdrawal (up to 25% of the amount). A customer can now open an Express FD account by investing a minimum Rs 5,000 up to Rs90,000, for a tenure of 6 to 12 months.
