Uttar Pradesh State Government has started DASTAK

Uttar Pradesh State government has started DASTAK campaign against communicative diseases Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) disease on 1 July in the State. DASTAK campaign will run from 1st to 31st July. This campaign is part of the State’s comprehensive Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) strategy.

CSEPF will work in 20 States, said Piyush Goyel

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal Tuesday announced formation of a Cooperative Sector Exports Promotion Forum (CSEPF) to achieve the target of doubling farm exports to USD 60 billion by 2022. He also said the first-ever ‘International Cooperative Trade Fair’ will be organised between October 11 and 13 at Pragati Maidan in the national capital to promote exports by cooperatives.

India has pledged USD 5 million to the UN Palestine refugee agency

India has pledged to contribute USD 5 million in 2019 to the UN Palestine refugee agency, even as it voiced concern over the agency’s difficult financial situation due to voluntary contributions from a limited donor base and called for ensuring sustained fiscal support for its work. India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador K Nagaraj Naidu said the Government of India has increased its annual financial contribution fourfold to the UNRWA core budget, from USD 1.25 million in 2016 to USD 5 million in 2018.

Manoj Kumar Nambier has been appointed as the Chairman of MFIN

Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN) has elected Manoj Kumar Nambiar, managing director of Arohan Financial Services, as its chairman. MFIN Chief Executive Officer Harsh Shrivastava also announced induction of Gyan Mohan and Jagadish Ramadugu in its governing board.

The nine member committee, chaired by Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, will suggest measures to boost agricultural export, raise growth in food processing, attract investments in modern market infrastructure, value chains and logistics.

N.S.Vishwanathan has been reappointed as deputy governor of the RBI for one year

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the extension of Vishwanathan’s term as RBI deputy governor by one year with effect from 4 July this year. Vishwanathan is in charge of regulation of banks, non-banking finance companies and cooperative banks.

Ravi Shankar Prasad has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL

Telecom and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad recently said in the Lok Sabha that the government was working towards BSNL and MTNL’s survival through competition. Purwar would try to keep both the organisations — BSNL and MTNL — operationally efficient

21st Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship will be held in Odisha

Odisha Government is set to host the 21st Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship at the Jawaharlal Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, scheduled for July 17 to 22. Through its Department of Sports and Youth Services (DSYS), the government of Odisha has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and Odisha State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA) to host the event.

India and France are going to participate in a bilateral air exercise Garuda VI

The Indian Air Force and Armée de l’Air (French Air Force) are going to be participating in a bilateral air exercise Garuda VI at Mont de Marsan in France. The exercise, scheduled to take place from July1 to July 12, 2019, exercise will see the most potent fighter aircraft of the two countries going head-to-head to validate the latest defence strategies and fine-tune their waging capabilities and is expected to showcase fighter jets like Rafale, Mirage 2000, Sukhoi 30 from the two sides. While the Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent comprises of 120 air-warriors and four Sukhoi 30 MKI along with an IL-78 flight refuelling aircraft, French Air Force units will comprise the likes of Rafale, Alpha Jet, Mirage 2000 etc.

Goa State Government approved amendment in the Factory Act of 1948

Now women can work in the night shifts in Goa. This is an important step in the direction of the Goa government towards empowerment of women. It is administered by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, by Directorate of Factory Counseling Services and Labor Institute.
