Krishnaswamy Natarajan took over as the Director-General of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). He has become the 23rd chief of India’s coastal security force. He took over from Rajendra Singh.

Professional motorcycle racer, Carlin Dunne, also known as “The King of the Mountain” has unfortunately suffered a fatal crash while on his attempt at this year’s Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

This year Dunne was riding the Ducati Streetfighter V4 Prototype, a naked stripped out version of the latest Panigale V4 supersports bike and fans and the team expected him to set a new record and take a class win. However, a fatal crash very close to the finish line had every one left in awe with the news of the incident and his passing.

SBI, NIIF in pact for funding infrastructure projects

State Bank of India, the country’s largest lender, and National Infrastructure Investment Fund, announced on Monday that they have tied up to “provide a boost to infrastructure financing,”

The two institutions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to make equity investments, project funding, bond financing, renewable energy support and take-out finance for operating assets.

The scope of the agreement includes equity investments, project funding, bond financing, renewable energy support and take-out finance for operating assets.

AFSPA extended in Nagaland till december end

The entire state of Nagaland has been declared a “disturbed area” for six more months by Ministry of Home Affairs, till December-end, under the controversial AFSPA which empowers security forces to conduct operations anywhere and arrest anyone without prior notice. The Act is implemented with effect from June 30 and will be in force till December end.

Jal Shakti Abhiyan for Water Conservation launched

Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat recently launched Jal Shakti Abhiyan- a campaign for water conservation and water security in 1592 stressed blocks in 256 district.

It is a collaborative effort of various Union Ministries and State Governments, being coordinated by Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS).

Tamil yeoman: now Tamil Nadu’s State Butterfly

Butterfly species Tamil yeoman has been officially declared as state butterfly of Tamil Nadu

The southern State formally notified this by an order on lines of the State Tree (Palm), Bird (Emerald Dove), Flower (Gloriosa) and Animal (Nilgiri Tahr)

It was chosen for honour after both Tamil Nadu Forest Department and state conservation groups decided to work together to identify a butterfly species that could be iconic, easily recognisable and easy to spot, and the same time serve as another symbol of State.
