Akane Yamaguchi has won Indonesia Open 2019

PV Sindhu loses to Akane Yamaguchi 15-21 16-21 in 51 minutes and has to settle for a silver in the women’s singles final of the Indonesia Open BWF Tour Super 1000 tournament. Sindhu looked far from comfortable against Yamaguchi as the Japanese took the first game after trailing at the break. Yamaguchi dominated the second game, rarely giving an inch to her Indian opponent. She claims her first-ever Indonesia Open title and third title this year.

Rajasthan Government has launched SPC

The Rajasthan government has launched Student Police Cadet (SPC) scheme, a Police training program, for class 8 and 9 students. The training aims to curb rising adolescent delinquency and strengthen teenagers mentally and physically. Also, it aims to make the students aware of basic laws and legal procedures.

All aspects of public and personal life have been developed for the SPC training. It would be imparted at three levels which includes:  indoor classes,outdoor activities,visits to relevant places and offices

11th edition of DefExpo will be held in Lucknow

The next edition of India’s mega defence exhibition – the DefExpo – will be held in Lucknow in 2020 with participation of major global and domestic military firms, It will be for the first time Lucknow will host the exhibition in which delegates of a number of leading countries will participate. The theme of the DefExpo will be ‘India: the emerging defence manufacturing hub’ and it will be focused on ‘digital transformation of defence’.

Arjun Bhati has secured first position at FGC Callaway Junior World Golf Championship

Fourteen-year-old Arjun Bhati represented India at the FGC CALLAWAY Junior World Golf Championship.He bagged the first position against Taiwan’s Jeremy Chen . They completed the three-day final match in Palm Desert. Out of the 637 players from 40 countries they participated in the tournament. Arjun secured the first position for India.

Kerala will set up Inida’s first Space Tech Park

The Kerala government will set up the country’s first space tech park at Thiruvananthapuram’s Knowledge City. The move is aimed at making the city a manufacturing hub for space-related technology. A space museum named after former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam will also be a part of the infrastructure

Hima Das won the women’s 400m gold in the Nove Mesto nad Metuji Grand Prix

Hima Das clocked a season-best 52.09s as she won the women’s 400m gold in the Nove Mesto nad Metuji Grand Prix. This was Hima’s first 400m after she retired midway through quartermile heats at Asian championships in Doha in April.She has won 5 gold medals in just 19 days.

D Raja has been appointed as the General Secretary of the CPI

Rajya Sabha member D Raja was appointed the general secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Sunday. Raja will replace Sudhakar Reddy who has decided to step down from the post due to health reasons. Reddy was elected to the post thrice. The decision to appoint Raja to the post of general secretary was taken at the party’s national council meeting which began on Friday.

Vivek Kohli has been elected as Chairman of CTTF

India’s Vivek Kohli and M P Singh have been elected as chairman and secretary general respectively of the Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation (CTTF). The elections were held in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, Commonwealth Championships taking place in Cuttack.

Aditya Birla Payments Bank has shut down its operations

Aditya Birla Payments Bank, a venture between Idea Cellular and Aditya Birla Nuvo, has shut down its operations. The payments bank that was only 18-month old has asked its customers to transfer their balances before July 26.

Shiva Thapa becomes India’s first gold-medalist in Kazakhstan President’s Cup

Four-time Asian medallist Shiva Thapa became India’s first gold-medallist at the President’s Cup boxing tournament after getting a walkover in the finals in Astana, Kazakhstan on Saturday. Making his international debut in the newly-introduced Olympic category of 63kg, Thapa was to fight Kazakhstan’s Zakir Safiullin in the summit clash but his opponent had to pull out due to injury.
