Government of India revealed that the GDP for quarter 2 shows a growth rate of 4.5 percent

The latest notification by the Government of India revealed that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for quarter 2 shows a growth rate of 4.5 percent.

Bangladesh had the largest number of stateless persons

Bangladesh had the largest number of stateless persons (around 906,000). It was followed by Côte d’Ivoire (692,000) and Myanmar (620,000). The total number of stateless persons globally in 2018 was 3.9 million.

NOTES:

The international legal definition of a stateless person is “a person who is not considered as a national by any State under the operation of its law”. In simple terms, this means that a stateless person does not have a nationality of any country. Some people are born stateless, but others become stateless.

Statelessness can occur for several reasons,-

– discrimination against particular ethnic or religious groups

-on the basis of gender

-The emergence of new States and transfers of territory between existing States

The International day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people is observed every year on 29th November by the United Nations. The day is observed to remember the struggle of Palestinian people to achieve Independence and Sovereignty.

NOTES:

i.The observance was adopted in the year 1947 and established in 1977 by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) under the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 181 (II) also known as the Partition Resolution

ii.The day is observed by conducting a variety of events that explains the solidarity with the Palestinians by Government officials, Educators and Civil Society organizations.

iii. A meeting is held every year at the United Nations headquarters in New York and the United Nations offices in Geneva and Vienna to mark the day.
