17th July Has been observed as World Day for International Justice

World Day for International Justice unites all those who wish to support justice, promote rights of the victims, also help in preventing crime that threaten peace, security and well-being of the world. 17 July is celebrated as World Day for International Justice because this day is the anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute in 1998. With the help of this treaty International Criminal Court (ICC) was established.

Punjab & Odisha were added to “Internet Sathi Programme”

Internet Saathi programme, a digital literacy initiative of Google India and Tata Trusts, aimed at empowering women in rural India, reaches 2.6 lakh villages across the country. the company said the programme has contributed towards bridging the digital gender divide in rural India (female to male ratio from 1 in 10 in 2015 to 4 in 10 in 2018) and will expand to cover two new states — Punjab & Odisha.

Varun Dhawan has been appointed as Brand Ambassador of Reebok

Leading fitness brand Reebok has roped in Bollywood actor and fitness enthusiast, Varun Dhawan, as their new brand ambassador in India, after being associated with the Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif. In collaboration with Varun, Reebok also launched its biggest campaign on Sole Fury, a dynamic new silhouette that is equal parts sport and style.

China has gifted ‘P625’ to Sri Lanka

China has gifted a warship to Sri Lanka, in the latest sign of its deepening military cooperation with the strategically located island nation in the Indian Ocean.  Also, China’s rolling-stock manufacturer has announced that it would shortly deliver nine “new type” of diesel trains to Sri Lanka.

Israels’s aerospace has signed a $50 million follow-up deal with Indian Navy

State-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) on Wednesday said it has inked a follow-up deal worth USD 50 million to supply complementary Naval MRSAM (medium range surface-to-air missile) systems to the Indian Navy and the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders.

Jeff Bezos tops the Bloomberg Billionaires Index 2019

Microsoft Corp co-founder Bill Gates, who has never been ranked below the second spot on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index has been pushed to the Number 3 rank by Bernard Arnault, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LVMH Moet Hennessy. Amazon chief Jeff Bezos is the still richest man in the world, with a total net worth of $125 billion. Bill Gates stands at Number 3 with net worth of $107 billion.

Smriti Mandhana has awarded with Arjuna Award

Indian opener Smriti Mandhana was conferred with the Arjuna Award on Tuesday by the Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Kiren Rijeju in a ceremony held in New Delhi. The southpaw had missed the Award function last year owing to international commitments. After being awarded the ODI Player Of The Year by ICC, this is yet another feather in the cap for the talented batsman. She has already registered 1951 runs in the format at a splendid average of 42.41

“Jan Jagrukta Abhiyan” has been launched at New Delhi

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will launch a Jan Jagrukta Abhiyaan in Delhi to accelerate measures for prevention and control of Vector Borne Diseases like Malaria, Dengue and Chikungunya. It will start from 17th to 19th July, 2019 in Delhi through active involvement of people’s representatives, officers from Government of India, Government of NCT Delhi, all three Delhi Municipal Corporations, New Delhi Municipal Council, Railways and Cantonment board and other stakeholders to combat malaria, dengue and chikungunya.

Fossil of smallest monkey species has been found in Kenya

The 4.2 million-year-old fossil of a tiny monkey that weighed roughly the same as a pineapple has been discovered in Kenya. Nanopithecus browni was the same size as a modern talapoin monkey, the smallest living Old World monkey species, which weighs only two to three pounds and is about the size of a cottontail rabbit.

Famous Boxer Parnell Whitaker passed away

Pernell Whitaker, an Olympic gold medalist and four-division champion who was regarded as one of the greatest defensive fighters ever, has died after being hit by a car in Virginia. He was 55. Police in Virginia Beach said the former fighter was hit by a car Sunday night. The driver of the car remained on the scene, and police said they were investigating the circumstances of the death.
