With an objective to provide low-priced pulses, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Dal Poshit Yojana’ at his residence on Thursday. Under the scheme, two kilogrammes of pulses per month would be made available to 23.32 lakh ration card holders. On the day, the CM distributed packets of pulses to selected beneficiaries.
National Green Tribunal (NGT) has set up a committee to formulate steps required to prevent unauthorised extraction of groundwater. Sh. Akhil Kumar (Joint Secretary-MoWR) will be the ex-officio chairman of the committee. The nodal agency will be the Joint Secretary, MoWR for coordination and compliance. NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel has directed the newly formed committee to evolve a robust mechanism to ensure that groundwater is not illegally extracted and to monitor manning and functioning of the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA)
The World Bank will provide Rs 3,000 crore funds to finance mini and mega food parks across the country, particularly in Northeast, and help boost farmers’ income, Union Minister Rameswar Teli said on Friday. Minor formalities remain to be completed on this front before the first disbursement of the sanctioned amount is released, the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries said.

The book published by Penguin India is slated for launch on October 16 but it has already created quite a buzz amongst a section of bibliophiles, particularly those who love mythological stories. “This is a mythology book – Women in mythology other than ‘Sita and Draupadi. It will deal only with Hindu mythology,” Murthy told PTI, giving a brief insight.
Union Government has set a target of setting up 12 thousand 500 Ayush Health and Wellness Centres across the country. Out of which four thousand will be set up during this year. AYUSH Minister Shripad Yesso Naik said this after inaugurating a Unani Medical Centre and Siddha Clinical Research Unit at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi. Mr Naik hoped that the Unani Medical Centre and Siddha Clinical Research Unit will provide holistic health care to patients visiting Safdarjung Hospital from different parts of the country. The Minister said, the government is taking special interest towards health care of the people through AYUSH systems of medicine. He said, the Ministry of Ayush will cater to 1.5 Lakh Health and Wellness Centres across the country as part of Ayushman Bharat.
World First Aid Day is observed on every second Saturday of September to raise awareness that how first aid can save lives. In 2019, it falls on 14 September. According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) the theme of World First Aid Day 2019 is “First Aid and Excluded People”. Its main aim is to raise awareness of how first aid can prevent injuries and save lives everyday and in crisis situation. It also promotes the accessibility of the first aid.
India has become a member of the Global Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Research and Development (R&D) Hub. The announcement was made by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology. With India’s inclusion, the Global Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Development hub now has 16 member nations. The hub also has the European Commission, two philanthropic foundations as members and four international organisations as observers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, dedicate the ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana’ to the nation from Ranchi, Jharkhand. Under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana’, farmers between age 18 and 40 years will get Rs 3,000 pension per month after reaching the age of 60. Jharkhand will head for Legislative Assembly election later this year.
Pakistan on Thursday skipped the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) military medicine conference organised by India here. The conference is being attended by 27 international and 40 Indian delegates.
Diplomatic sources said Pakistan is expected to attend the second day of the conference on Friday. They said Air Attache in Pakistan High Commission Abdul Adil is said to attend the conference along with another official.
The International Year of Indigenous Languages aims to focus attention on the risks confronting indigenous languages, especially those significant for development, reconciliation, good governance and peace building. It aims to improve quality of life, wider international cooperation and visibility and strengthened intercultural dialogue to reaffirm the continuity of indigenous languages and cultures.
The year has five main intervention areas:
Increasing understanding, reconciliation and international cooperation
Creation of favourable conditions for knowledge-sharing and dissemination of good practices with regard to indigenous languages
Integration of indigenous languages into standard-setting
Empowerment through capacity-building
Growth and development through elaboration of new knowledge
