1. prudent (adjective) – दूरदर्शी, बुद्धिमान
Pronunciation: proo-d(u)nt
Meaning: acting with or showing care and thought for the future
Synonyms: wise, judicious, sagacious
Antonyms: unwise, imprudent, incautious, extravagant
Usage: It would be prudent to save some money.

2. accustomed (adjective) – अभ्यस्त, आदी
Pronunciation: akus-tumd
Meaning: usual
Synonyms: customary, normal, habitual, regular
Antonyms: unusual, unaccustomed
Usage: We were accustomed to working together.

3. obstinate (adjective) – ज़िद्दी, हठी
Pronunciation: obsti-nut
Meaning: stubbornly refusing to change one’s opinion or chosen course of action, despite attempts to persuade one to do so; (of an unwelcome situation) very difficult to change or overcome
Synonyms: stubborn, headstrong, wilful
Antonyms: compliant, amenable, tractable
Usage: The obstinate old man refused to go to hospital.

4. indispensable (adjective) – परम आवश्यक, अत्यावश्यक, अनिवार्य
Pronunciation: indi-spensub(u)l
Meaning: absolutely necessary
Synonyms: essential, crucial, necessary, key, vital
Antonyms: dispensable, superfluous, non-essential
Usage: Computer is indispensable to modern life.

5. evacuation (noun) – खाली करना, निकास
Pronunciation: ivakyu-eish(u)n
Meaning: the action of removing (someone) from a place of danger to a safer place; leave or cause the occupants to leave (a place of danger)
Synonyms: removal, clearance, shifting, expulsion, eviction, deportation
Antonym: retention
Usage: Function of a fire alarm is evacuation of staff from the building.

6. vicissitude (noun) – भाग्य-परिवर्तन, हेरफेर
Pronunciation: vi-sisi-tyood / vai-sisi-tyood
Meaning: a change of circumstances or fortune, typically one that is unwelcome or unpleasant; alternation between opposite or contrasting things
Synonyms: change, alteration, alternation, transformation, mutability

Usage:

7. inert (adjective) – स्थिर, अक्रिय, निष्क्रिय
Pronunciation: in-ert
Meaning: lacking the ability or strength to move; chemically inactive
Synonyms: unmoving, motionless, immobile, still, stock-still, stationary, static, dormant
Antonyms: moving, active
Usage:

  • She lay completely inert on her bed.
  • Inert gases, such as helium, have zero valencies; they do not normally form compounds.

8. sacrilegious (adjective) – तिरस्कारी, पापमय
Pronunciation: sakri-li-jus
Meaning: involving in violation or misuse of something that is regarded as sacred
Synonyms: profane, blasphemous blasphemous, impious, sinful, irreverent
Antonyms: pious, respectful
Usage: Burning the Bible is a sacrilegious act.

9. stagnant (adjective) – प्रवाहहीन, गतिहीन
Pronunciation: stag-nunt
Meaning: (of a body of water or the atmosphere of a confined space) having no current or flow and often having an unpleasant smell as a consequence; showing no activity; dull and sluggish
Synonyms: still, motionless, immobile, inactive, sluggish, lethargic
Antonyms: flowing, running, fresh, active, vibrant
Usage: Two days after the storm, the stagnant water is still in my front yard.

10. rescind (verb) – रद्द करना, रोक देना
Pronunciation: ri-sind
Meaning: cancel (a law, order, or agreement)
Synonyms: revoke, repeal, abrogate, overturn, overrule, annul, nullify
Antonyms: enforce, enact
Usage: The workers agreed to rescind the strike after their union demands were met.
