1. Taint (verb) –

  • Meaning: A physical trace of a bad or undesirable substance or quality; An imperfection, fault or  bad name associated with s0meone
  • Synonyms: stain, blot, smear, spot, blemish, defect, fault, flaw
  • Antonyms: advantage, benefit, blank, cleanliness, pureness
  • Usage: The  taint of uncertainty and danger in the region, while it remains, will continue to have a
    negative effect on investor sentiment.

2. Doomed (verb) –

  • Meaning: Certain to be or do something; On the point of death; Wrongly or badly planned or judged, typically because of faulty understanding
  • Synonyms: misconceived, flawed, ill-conceived, dying, moribund, expiring, destined fated, certain, foreordained
  • Antonyms: lucky, blessed, happy, avoidable, distant, creating, developing, growing
  • Usage: They say that those who fail to learn fron1 history are doomed to repeat trite sayings.

3. Deportment (verb) –

  • Meaning: One’s manner of presenting oneself; Behaviour in keeping with good taste and propriety; The action of forcing someone to leave an organization ; a particular appearance or quality
  • Synonyms: expulsion, banishment, dismissal, decoru1n, decency, propriety, bearing, carriage, comportment, manner
  • Antonyms: impoliteness, rudeness, bad manners, impropriety, disorganization, whole, entirety, body
  • Usage: The comparison child was observed as a control for the level of activity and expectations for deportn1ent in the particular classroom.

  • Meaning: If someone is circling the drain, they are very near death and have little time to live. The phrase can also describe a project or plan or campaign that that is on the brink of failure.
  • Example: The company’s closure was inevitable, as it has been circling the drain for the last six months.
