  1. SWARTHY (Adjective)
    Meaning: dark-complexioned
    Synonyms: raven, ebony, dusky, sable, brunet
    Antonyms: blond, luminous, pallid, pasty, bright
    Example: There were ten men, swarthy, sun-tanned, villainous looking fellows.
  2. CONDIGN (Adjective)
    Meaning: appropriate to the crime or wrongdoing; fitting and deserved.
    Synonyms: earned, merited, warranted, justified.
    Antonyms: undeserved, undue, unfair, unjust.
    Example: The judge’s job was to make sure that the sentence was condign for each crime.
  3. CREDULOUS (Adjective)
    Meaning: having or showing too great a readiness to believe things.
    Synonym: gullible, naive, impressionable, trusting,
    Antonym: worldly, suspicious
    Example: If you do not stop being so credulous, someone is really going to take advantage of you one day!
  4. EMPYREAN (Adjective)
    Meaning: Related to heaven or sky
    Synonym: Ether, Paradise
    Antonym: hellish, infernal
    Usage: The Goddess of the empyrean had come up in several classical novels She had become the patroness of the heroes.
  5. RESCIND (Verb)
    Meaning: to make a law, agreement, order, or decision no longer have any (legal) power
    Synonyms: abolish, abrogate
    Antonyms: allow, approve
    Usage: Once their union demands were met, the workers agreed to rescind the strike.
  6. CONSTERNATION (Noun)
    Meaning: a feeling of anxiety or dismay, typically at something unexpected.
    Synonyms: perturbation, anxiety, distress, disquiet,
    Antonyms: satisfaction
    Example: Discovering a water bug crawling on the ceiling left me in consternation for hours.
  7. MOOT (Adjective)
    Meaning: subject to debate, dispute, or uncertainty.
    Synonyms: debatable, arguable, problematic,
    Antonyms: certain, definite
    Example: Since the judge has decided the child will live with her mother, the custody argument between the parents is moot.
  8. LAUREATE (Noun)
    Meaning: a person who is honored with an award for outstanding creative or intellectual achievement.

    Antonyms: dishonorable, insignificant, infamous.
    Example: He was awarded the poet laureate by the queen.
  9. STIPULATE (Verb)
    Meaning: demand or specify (a requirement), typically as part of an agreement.
    Synonyms: specify, prescribe, enjoin, assign.
    Antonyms: relinquish, surrender, yield, imply.
    Example: The owners may stipulate a huge deposit as a condition of the purchase agreement.
  10. OBSTREPEROUS (Adjective)
    Meaning: difficult to deal with and noisy
    Synonyms: loud, blusterous
    Antonyms: calm, silent
    Example: Because my nephew is obstreperous, he often gets in trouble at school.
  11. IDIOMS
    Burn the candle at both ends
    Meaning: you work excessively hard, say, by keeping two jobs or by leading a busy social life in the evening.
    Example: Mitch is burning the candle at both ends. He is working two jobs, one in the evening.

    Keep an ear to the ground
    Meaning: Be well informed of current trends, opinions, and happenings
    Example: One of the main reasons for his success in business is that he keeps an ear to the ground to know what the customers want and why they’re dissatisfied with competing products.

    When pigs fly
    Meaning: something that will never happen.
    Sentence: When pigs fly she’ll tidy up her room.
