  1. EMANCIPATE (Verb)
    Meaning: to give people social or political freedom and rights.
    Synonyms: discharge, liberate
    Antonyms: confine, restrain
    Usage: Women are still struggling to be fully emancipated.
  2. SHUNT (Verb)
    Meaning: to push or shove something
    Synonyms: avoid, deter
    Antonyms: aid, allow
    Usage: Talk with my friend. Don’t shunt him aside.
  3. UNABATED (Adjective)
    Meaning: without any reduction in intensity or strength.
    Synonyms: incessant, persistent
    Antonyms: intermittent, relenting
    Usage: The fighting has continued unabated for over 24 hours.
  4. GRANULAR (Adjective)
    Meaning: Resembling or consisting of small grains or particles.

    Meaning: spoil or impair the quality or efficiency of.
    Synonyms: annihilate, negate, quash
    Antonyms: allow, permit
    Usage: If you think that crossing your fingers behind your back is going to vitiate the promise you made, think again.
  10. RETAIN (Verb)
    Meaning: continue to have (something); keep possession of.
    Synonyms: keep, hold, preserve
    Antonyms: abandon, release
    Usage: You have the right to retain possession of the goods.
  11. IDIOMS

    Meaning: Used to describe a person who is under the control of someone.
    Sentence: Ken is totally under his manager’s thumb.

    Meaning: Used in a context when you ask your guests to make themselves comfortable as if they were in their own homes.

    Meaning: Used to describe a person who talks less and acts more.
    Sentence: Ben is really a man of action. Ever since he arrived he has done so much for the organization.
