  1. EXPEDIENT (Adjective)
    Meaning: suitable to the circumstances; appropriate.
    Synonyms: convenient, advantageous, prudent.
    Antonyms: useless, inappropriate, fruitless.
    Usage: While the patient has no insurance, it is expedient that the hospital staff take all life-saving methods, regardless of their costs.
  2. STOPGAP (Noun)
    Meaning: a temporary way of dealing with a problem or satisfying a need.
