  1. HAZY (Adjective)
    Meaning: covered by a haze; cloudy, foggy.
    Synonyms: blurred, unclear, fuzzy, foggy.
    Antonyms: clear, sunny, clean, distinct.
    Usage: Because the windshield was so fogged up, everything along the highway looked hazy.
  2. DEPRIVE (Verb)
    Meaning: prevent (a person or place) from having or using something.
    Synonyms: deny, strip, dispossess, divest, rob.
    Antonyms: give, provide, offer, supply, endow, enrich.
    Usage: The defendant screamed that he would not allow the judge to deprive him of his right to a fair trial.
  3. CARVE OUT (Verb)
    Meaning: to develop a career or position for yourself by working hard.
    Synonyms: sculpt, acquire, attain, capture.
    Antonyms: disregard, neglect, pass over.
    Usage: Alexander the Great carved out the greatest empire of his time, stretching from the Mediterranean Sea to Afghanistan.
  4. PROSPECTIVE (Adjective)
    Meaning: expected or expecting to be the specified thing in the future.
    Synonyms: forthcoming, expected, eventual.
    Antonyms: past, former, previous.

  5. SWAY (Verb)
    Meaning: move or cause to move slowly or rhythmically backwards and forwards or from side to side.

    Antonyms: stay, steady, dissuade.

  6. CONFLATE (Verb)
    Meaning: to blend two or more things into one whole.

    Example: The scientist tried to conflate the two chemicals, but they exploded instead of blending.
  7. CONFABULATE (Verb)
    Meaning: to talk informally.

  8. VALEDICTORY (Noun)
    Meaning: a big goodbye/ farewell speech/ announcement.
    Synonyms: farewell, leaving, parting, departing.
    Antonyms: welcome, salutatory.
    Example: During his retirement party, their former boss read a valedictory thanking everyone for 20 wonderful years of successful business.
  9. EXPEDITIOUS (Adjective)
    Meaning: done with speed and efficiency.
    Synonyms: speedy, swift, quick, rapid, fast, prompt
    Antonyms: slow.
    Example: The man was saved because of the doctor’s expeditious diagnosis.
  10. UNLEASH (Verb)
    Meaning: to suddenly release a violent force that cannot be controlled.
    Synonyms: unchain, unfetter, unshackle, vent.
    Antonyms: confine, enchain, fetter, bridle.
    Example: The pet store would forbid the entry of a pet if its owner decided to unleash it prior to opening the front door.
  11. IDIOMS
    “Hit One below the Belt”
    CLOTHING IDIOM
    Meaning: To hit one below the belt means to attack someone in an unjust manner.
    Usage: Unable to find any flaws in her cousin, Dina hit her below the belt and spread rumors about her.

    “Have an Ace/a Card up One’s Sleeve”
    CLOTHING IDIOM
    Meaning: to have a secret plan, which one can carry out during dire situations.
    Usage: The recruiters had an ace up their sleeve. They offered their recruits attractive compensation packages when they were about to sign up for a competing company.

    “A Hand-Me-Down”
    CLOTHING IDIOM
    Meaning: A hand-me-down is an old and used piece of clothing that one person gets from another.
    Usage: The young kid was given hand-me-downs by her older sister.
