1. fraught (adjective) – भारयुक्त, लदा हुआ
Pronunciation: fro-t
Meaning: (of a situation or course of action) filled with or likely to result in (something undesirable); causing or affected by anxiety or stress
Synonyms: anxious, worried, upset, distraught, overwrought, agitated, distressed
Antonym: calm
Usage: When my son did not arrive home on time, I was fraught with fear.

2. snappy (adjective) – चिड़चिड़ा; संक्षिप्त; स्वच्छ, साफ़
Pronunciation: snapi
Meaning: irritable and inclined to speak sharply; cleverly using a few words for giving a lot of information; neat and elegant
Synonyms: snappish, irritable, irascible, short-tempered, hot-tempered, quick-tempered, fiery, peevish; concise, succinct, memorable, catchy, neat, clever, crisp, pithy, witty, incisive, brief; smart, well dressed, besuited
Antonyms: good-natured, peaceable;     long-winded; slovenly
Usage:

  • Lack of sleep is making me considerably snappy.
  • He was looking snappy in his cool button-up shirt.
  • I like to read snappy paragraphs as long-winded paragraphs are boring to read.

3. straitened (adjective) – गरीब, दरिद्र
Pronunciation: strei-tnd
Meaning: characterized by poverty; restricted in range or scope
Synonyms: impoverished, poor, destitute, penniless, indigent, penurious, impecunious, needy, needful, beggarly
Usage: He was a writer living in straitened circumstances.

4. lofty (adjective) – बुलंद, ऊंचा, अभिमानी
Pronunciation: lofti
Meaning: of imposing height; of a noble or elevated nature; arrogantly superior and not friendly
Synonyms: tall, high, giant, towering, soaring; noble, exalted, high, high-minded, grand, fine, sublime, elevated; haughty, proud, aloof, arrogant, disdainful, supercilious, condescending, patronizing, scornful, contemptuous, self-important, conceited

Usage:

5. filch (verb) – चुराना

Meaning: steal (something, especially an item of small value) in a casual way

6. furtive (adjective) – गुपचुप, गुप्त

Meaning: attempting to avoid notice or attention, typically because of guilt or a belief that discovery would lead to trouble
Synonyms: secretive, secret, surreptitious; sly, sneaky, wily, underhand, clandestine

7. propitiate (verb) – संतुष्ट करना

Meaning: win or regain the favour of (a god, spirit, or person) by doing something that pleases them

Meaning: characterized by strong and unstable or conflicting emotion; very stormy

Usage: She is in a tempestuous mood.

9. culminate (verb) – समापन

Meaning: reach a climax or point of highest development

Usage: Unfortunately, the tension between the two countries is likely to culminate in war.
