1. rebellion (noun) – विद्रोह, बगावत
Pronunciation: ri-bel-yun
Meaning: an act of armed resistance to an established government or leader; the action or process of resisting authority, control, or tradition
Synonyms: uprising, revolt, insurrection, mutiny, revolution; defiance, disobedience
Antonym: obedience
Usage: The rebellion is expected to further damage the country’s image.

2. accountable (adjective) – उत्तरदायी, जिम्मेदार
Pronunciation: akaun-tub(u)l
Meaning: required or expected to justify actions or decisions; able to be explained or understood
Synonyms: responsible, answerable, liable, answerable; explicable, understandable, comprehensible, intelligible
Antonym: unaccountable
Usage:

  • He is mentally ill and cannot be held accountable for his actions.
  • I am accountable to my superiors for my actions.

3. reckless (adjective) – लापरवाह
Pronunciation: rek-lus
Meaning: heedless of danger or the consequences of one’s actions
Synonyms: rash, careless, heedless, unheeding, inattentive, precipitous, impetuous, impulsive
Antonyms: careful, cautious, prudent
Usage: Tom showed reckless disregard for Mary’s feelings.

4. stuffy (adjective) – घुटन-भरा, भरा हुआ, परंपरागत
Pronunciation: stufi
Meaning:
(a) (of a place) lacking fresh air or ventilation
(b) (of a person’s nose) blocked up and making breathing difficult
(c) (of a person) not receptive to new or unusual ideas
Synonyms:
(a) airless, close, stifling, suffocating

Usage:
(a) I was tired of stuffy indoor atmosphere.

5. entrench (verb) – स्थापित करना
Pronunciation: in-trench / en-trench
Meaning: establish (an attitude, habit, or belief) so firmly that change is very difficult or unlikely
Synonyms: establish, settle, ensconce, lodge
Antonyms: dislodge, superficial
Usage: This idea had firmly entrenched itself in his consciousness.

6. catharsis (noun) – साफ़ हो जाना
Pronunciation: k-thaa-sis
Meaning: the process of releasing, and thereby providing relief from, strong or repressed emotions
Synonyms: purging, purgation, purification, cleansing, release, relief

Usage: Crying can prove to be a great catharsis.

9. gratitude (noun) – आभार, कृतज्ञता

Meaning: the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness

Antonym: ingratitude

Meaning: based on random choice or personal sudden desire, rather than any reason or system; (of power or a ruling body) unrestrained and autocratic in the use of authority
Synonyms: capricious, whimsical, random, chance, erratic, unpredictable, inconsistent; despotic, tyrannical
Antonyms: rational, reasoned; democratic
Usage:

  • His decision to fire Jane and not Hue was very arbitrary, as both had done outstanding work at the company and both had always treated him with great respect.
