WEST BENGAL FOREST SERVICE (WBFS)
No. of Vacancies: 10 Nos. (UR-05, SC-02, ST-01, BC-02)
Educational Qualification:
i) Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Science or Engineering of any recognized University or Institute with at least one of the following subjects- Agriculture, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Application, Computer Science, Engineering (Agricultural, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical), Forestry, Geology, Horticulture, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Veterinary Science, Zoology and Environmental Science.
ii) Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali).
Age Limit: Minimum 21 years and maximum 36 years as on 01.01.2018.
Pay Scale: Rs.15,600-42,000/- and Grade Pay Rs.5,400/-
2. WEST BENGAL SUB-ORDINATE FOREST SERVICE (WBSFS)
No. of Vacancies: 172 Nos. (UR-80, SC-45, ST-09, BC-33, Meritorious Sports Person-05)
Educational Qualification:
i) Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering of any recognized Indian University or Institute with at least one of the following subjects- Agriculture, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Application, Computer Science, Engineering (Agricultural, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical), Forestry, Geology, Horticulture, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Veterinary Science, Zoology and Environmental Science.
ii) Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali).
Age Limit: Minimum 21 years and maximum 39 years as on 01.01.2018.
Pay Scale: Rs.7,100-37,600/- and Grade Pay Rs.3,900/-
Reserved Category candidates of other states will be treated as General Category candidates.
On the basis of the Examination, the candidates will be selected for West Bengal Forest Service (WBFS) and West Bengal Sub-ordinate Forest Service (WBSFS). The candidates will be initially appointed on Temporary basis.
Upper Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST and 03 years for OBC category.
Physical Standards (For all above posts):
(i) Male Candidates: Height — 163 cm (152 cm for ST candidates); Chest (unexpanded) — 84 cm; Chest (expanded) — 89 cm
(ii) Female Candidates: Height — 150 cm (145 cm for ST candidates); Chest — 79 cm; Chest (expanded) — 84 cm
Cut-off in Physical Standards: For candidates belonging to certain categories/ communities or of certain States/Areas; the cut-off in such candidate’s Height/ Chest’s measurement will be as per Govt. norms. Please see officially released advertisement for more details.
Candidates’ Selection: Selection of candidates will be through Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Personality Test. The Preliminary Examination will be held at various centres namely, Kolkata, Burdwan, Berhampore, Siliguri and Darjeeling tentatively on the 05/08/2018. The
Main Examination will be held in Kolkata and Personality Test will be held thereafter in the office of the Public Service Commission, West Bengal, in Kolkata.
