An Indepth Study of SSC- CGL Examination
SSC – CGL examination is conducted by Staff Selection Commission every year to recruit staffs to various posts in ministries and other Central Government offices in India. The examination is conducted in three successive tiers; Tier I, Tier II and Tier III.
Process of Selection in SSC CGL:
It consists of a paper of Objective type questions and carries a maximum of 200 marks to be solved in a duration of 1hr.
The scheme of this test is in the table drawn below:

In SSC – CGL Tier II all posts excluding that related to Assistant Audit officer and Statistical Investigator, there are only two tests namely Quantitative Abilities and English Language. After Tier II test, the merit is made based on aggregate marks of Tier I and Tier II.
The marking scheme of this test is given in the table drawn below:

Note-:
SSC – CGL Tier III is a descriptive type Examination and it consists of easy writing and letter writing on the current issues of the country.
After clearing Tier I and Tier II, the selected candidates get qualified for Tier III. Earlier the SSC, conducted Interview after Tier II but from last year it was discontinued. In this Tier, SSC checks Computer Proficiency Test/ Skills for some selected posts and this round is also meant for document verification for all the selected candidates.

The following are the required conditions the candidate needs to fulfill in order to earn the final selection:
A). The candidates who are qualified after Tier II would need to submit their documents like Graduation Marks sheet or provisional certificate/ Certificate of Graduation etc. during Tier III Computer Proficiency Test.
B). The minimum required educational qualification must be acquired before the stipulated late as it will be mentioned in the upcoming notification. In case of failure in any of the two conditions mentioned above, the candidate will be disqualified.

Essential Academic Qualifications: (As on 01.08.2018): The basic qualification for SSC CGL is Graduation but it depends upon the post as follows. The candidates appearing in the final year of their graduation can also apply, however they must possess Essential qualification on or before 1st August 2018.
(i) Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer:
(a) Essential Qualifications: Bachelor‟s Degree from a recognized University or Institute
(b) Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Accountant or cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
Note-I: During the period of probation direct recruits shall have to qualify the “Subordinate Audit Service Examination” in respective branches for confirmation and regular appointment as Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.
(ii) Junior Statistical Officer: Bachelor‟s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level or Bachelor‟s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
(iii) All other Posts: Bachelor‟s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
