  • The Reserve Bank of India imposed Prompt Corrective Action against public sector lender Dena Bank in view of high non performing loans.
  • The fifteenth Asia Media Summit was held in New Delhi.
  • The summit was inaugurated by information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani on May 10, 2018.
  • The theme of the two day Summit was ” Telling Our Stories- Asia and More”.
  • India offered 10 Million Dollar Line of credit for Bio Technology to Panama.During the visit of Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu to Panama offered two lines of credit – 10 Million Dollar line of credit for Bio Technology and 15 Million Dollar for innovation sector to Panama.
  • India World Bank sign USD 200 Million Dollar on loan deal for national nutrition mission.
  • The POSHAN Abhiyan was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 8, 2018 for holistic nourishment of children.
  • India and Peru signed the agreement on the renewable energy sector in Lima on May 12, 2018.
  • India and Guatmela signed an agreement to boost cooperation in the education sector.
  • India will supply solar panels to Guatmela’s airports.
  • India slipped to the 6th position globally in Business optimism index for the first quarter of this year.
  • The World Oceans Day is being observed every year on 8th June to raise global awareness of current challenges faced by the international community in connection with oceans.
  • Indian Railways and the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) have jointly launched an awareness campaign on Protection of children in contact with Railways.
  • This is an endeavour to spread awareness about large number of vulnerable children coming in contact with Railways as passengers or abandoned, trafficked, run away children separated from their family.
  • The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) was set up in March 2007 under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005.
  • The World Bank has approved Atal Bhujal Yojana (ABHY). The scheme is to be implemented over a period of five years from 2018-19 to 2022-23, with World Bank assistance.t is a Rs.6000 crore Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation. The scheme aims to improve ground water management in priority areas in the country through community participation.
  • The priority areas identified under the scheme fall in the states of Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. These States represent about 25% of the total number of over-exploited, critical and semi-critical blocks in terms of ground water in India. They also cover two major types of groundwater systems found in India – alluvial and hard rock aquifers- and have varying degrees of institutional readiness and experience in groundwater management.
